botulinum

An elegant anti-aging treatment to reduce irritating mimic lines such as facial lines and wrinkles on the neck is the injection of Botulinum (Botox®/Vistabel®).

It is suitable for frown lines as well as glabella lines, crow’s feets and forehead lines. Botulinum is also used to relax the bottom half of the face, the masticatory muscle and chin areas as well as the treatment of drooping corners of the mouth. This concept extends into the treatment of neck wrinkles, the so-called platysmal bands. Please feel free to enquire about these new treatment options and their effect on the aging of the lower part of the face.

Dr Greiner and her team also successfully treat teeth grinding (proxismus) and migrane headaches with Botulinum (Botox®/Vistabel®).

A further use of Botulinum (Botox®/Vistabel®) includes the treatment of excess sweat production under the arm pits.

Both Vistabelâ and the well-known “Botox®” are produced by Allergan. While Vistabelâ is manufactured for aesthetic treatments, Botox® is applied to clinical indications such as tension headaches.

The effect of a Botox® treatment takes seven to ten days to show and lasts for up to four months. Botulinum toxin is injected into the muscle responsible for the formation of lines. This relaxes the treated facial muscle and visibly reduces the depth of lines. The result is a fresh and youthful appearance.

Botulinum toxin is a protein produced by bacteria and blocks in a targeted way the transmission of signals in treated muscle areas. This results in a relaxation of the layers of the skin above the muscle. Botox® injections into the mimic muscles are particularly effective for the treatment of glabellar lines or crow’s feet.

Due to potential side effects treatments with dermal fillers such as hyaluronic acid and muscle relaxants such as Botox® should always be carried out by consultants such as those based at MediCorium near Frankfurt.
